Welcome to Josquin Capella

The Josquin Capella was formed in 1994 by students of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and singers from cologne. Today, the members of the vocal ensemble come together from many European countries to sing in concerts and for recordings. From the beginning, the ensemble‘s goal has been to sing the great music of the high Renaissance – the late fifteenth and the sixteenth centuries. It’s repertoire embraces the masses and motets of Dufay, Ockeghem, Josquin and Gombert, as well as the rich treasure of Italian and German madrigals.
All critics praise the ensemble’s outstanding quality of sound. In France the recording of psalm-motets by Heinrich Finck received a diapason d’or. Several radio recordings have been made for the Westdeutscher Rundfunk and Deutschlandfunk. Josquin Capella has been invited to the Festivals of Antwerp and Gent, Fontevraud and Le Thoronet and to the European Kirchenmusikfest in Schwäbisch Gmünd, where the SWR recorded live. In 2010 the WDR produced a recording with church music of the capella sistina by Arcadelt.
